Before pursuing a career in psychology, Dr. Kalinian worked as a CT/MRI scan technologist. It was during this time that she became interested in brain-behavior relationships. Surely, a person with an abnormal brain scan behaved differently than one with a normal one? How did these abnormalities affect a person's quality of life? What is the relationship between brain dysfunction and behavior? How can a person have "normal" brain scan results and still complain of problems with memory, thinking, and behavior? Questions such as these piqued her curiosity and lead her on a career path to become a Clinical Neuropsychologist.
Doctor Kalinian obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Forensic Psychology,a Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Psychology, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical Psychology with specialty certification in Neuropsychological Assessment.
Doctor Kalinian completed a Predoctoral Internship in Neuropsychology at UC-Davis Medical Center and a Postdoctoral Fellowship training in Neuropsychology at UC-San Francisco's General Hospital.
Doctor Kalinian is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of California, and she is engaged in private practice in the areas of Forensic and Neuropsychological Evaluation and Treatment of adults and the elderly.Aditionally, she is a member of the Medical Staff of Mission Hospital St. Joseph Health System and an adjunct faculty at Argoy University/Orange County campus.
Doctor Kalinian is a member of the American Psychological Association (Division 40-Cllinical Neuropsychology), National Academy of Neuropsychology, and California Psychological Association.
